Massage/Body Work

At Hands On Health Rejuvenation Spa, we love bodywork and massage!! We are passionate about our craft and making a difference in your life so you can make a difference within your home, business and community.

Our sessions are a full 60 or 90 minutes (not 50 or 80) so you're never rushed. Our practitioners always have a 15 to 30 minute break between sessions so they are rested and refreshed for your session. There is never an extra charge for advanced massage techniques like Amma Therapy, Onsen or deep tissue. You always pay the same flat rate whether your request a specific technique or have your therapist custom craft your session from a range of specialties.

Amma Bodywork Therapy

A classic Korean form of Asian bodywork, "Am-ma” literally translates to "push-pull.” Amma is a specialized form of skilled (somatic) touch therapy that combines deep tissue bodywork with the application of pressure, friction, massage, and stimulation to specific acu-points, superficial primary and tendino-muscle energy channels, muscles, ligaments, and joints. It is rooted in the fundamental principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine, focusing on the balance and movement of Qi (energy) within the body. The techniques of Amma aim to remove blockages and free the flow of Qi in the body — restoring, promoting, and maintaining optimum health.

Amma practitioners are also trained the principles of herbs, wholistic nutrition and eastern dietary principles.

Onsen Bodywork

Onsen Bodywork is a method to asses and correct structural and functional (bone and muscle) imbalances in the body that cause pain. It utilizes two main components: gentle stretching called Muscle Energy Technique, and cross fiber friction massage. The end result is long term pain relief.

Swedish Massage

Swedish massage is the best known type of massage. It uses a firm but gentle pressure to improve the circulation, ease muscle aches and tension, improve flexibility and create relaxation. The therapist generally uses massage oil to facilitate long, smooth strokes over the body. Swedish massage is the foundation for other types of Western massage, including sports, deep tissue and aromatherapy.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue massage is used to release chronic muscle tension through slower strokes and more direct deep pressure or friction applied across the grain of the muscles. It can help to break up scar tissue. Deep tissue massage usually focuses on more specific areas and may cause some discomfort during or after the massage. This discomfort usually diminishes within 24-48 hours. Drinking plenty of water and an Epsom Salt bath (2-4 cups) can speed recovery.

Prenatal Massage

Prenatal massage has shown to have many benefits for mother and baby. They include tranquil relaxation and stress reduction; relief from muscle cramps and pain (especially in the lower back, neck, hips and legs); increased blood and lymph circulation which can reduce swelling; eases stress on weight-bearing joints. You will be comfortably propped with pillows to support your growing baby or may choose our pregnancy massage table.
