Kristen Pitcher

My name is
Kristen Pitcher and I am a Certified Massage Therapist at Hands on Health. I grew up in the Logan, Utah area the youngest of 8 children; 6 girls and 2 boys. I enjoy camping, photography, bargain shopping, playing sports, and spending time with family and friends.
In July 2008, I moved from Logan, to Nampa, Idaho to attend a local massage therapy school that my sister had recommended to me. I knew I wanted to be a massage therapist when I was a junior in high school. One day, my mom’s back was really hurting and I volunteered to rub it for her. As I massaged her back for that hour, I felt her relax and fall asleep. When we were finished, she got up and was no longer in pain! I was amazed at the results that were created, even though I didn’t know what I was doing or how it worked. From that moment on I knew I was hooked on helping people feel better.
I graduated from The
Massage Training Center in May 2009 where I received the best training in all of Idaho and Utah. I was trained in Swedish relaxation massage, pregnancy, trigger point therapy, and deep tissue massage. My goal now is to become nationally certified by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork. I love challenging myself to do bigger and better things.
The clients I enjoy working with the most are those with pain and/or injury. I like it because it gives me the opportunity to utilize all the modalities I have learned in assessing what the root problem is and then relieving the discomfort. It is like detective work, because the location of the pain is not always where the problem is arising from! I love giving you a report of findings and formulating a treatment plan so we can maximize what I can do for you in each session. I have found the benefits of massage are accumulative. Especially when dealing with pain and injury, frequent sessions compound to provide maximum results. This may mean coming in 2-3 times in a week, then coming weekly, and then perhaps every other week.
I would like to share a tip with you that I have learned. Without the proper amount of water in your diet, organs such as the kidneys and liver fail to function properly. The average person should drink about half their body weight in ounces of water daily. That translates to a 150 pound person would drink 75 oz or just over 2 quarts of water daily. After a massage, it is important to drink 3-4 quarts of water within the next 24 hours to flush the toxins and lactic acid that were released from your muscles. This will alleviate soreness and speed recovery.
By receiving a regular massage, results may include, but are not limited to: relief from chronic headaches/ migraines, reduced muscle soreness, freedom from nerve pain, and more!
